Patty Jenkins Is Teasing Wonder Woman 1984’s First Trailer

The DC Extended Universe has had a fascinating tenure in theaters, full of peeks and valleys. While Warner Bros. stumbled to get the shared universe off its feet, Patty Jenkins blockbuster Wonder Woman was a shining example of what it was capable of. A sequel was quickly greenlit, but Jenkins took her time crafting the story of Wonder Woman . But now the acclaimed director might be teasing the sequel s long-awaited trailer.

Throughout its long gestation process, Wonder Woman has only revealed a handful of images from the blockbuster s set. But it looks like the first trailer is coming in a few months this December. Patty Jenkins recently took to social media to tease an upcoming appearance alongside Gal Gadot at Comic Con Experience in Brazil. You can check out Patty Jenkins tweet below.

Well, that seems pretty obvious. Patty Jenkins thinks all eyes should be on the Wonder Woman presentation at CCXP this year. So it s safe to assume it s going to be trailer time for the upcoming sequel. At least, if you read into Patty Jenkins recent tweet.

Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot s appearance is set to occur at the festival on December th, which is seemingly the date of the trailer premiere. With Wonder Woman set to arrive in theaters about six months later that coming June, the timing makes sense. Warner Bros. will likely offer up a brief teaser for the upcoming blockbuster, before a full trailer arrives closer to the film s arrival in theaters. But smart money says the first glimpse into will essentially break the internet.

Wonder Woman will catch up on the character decades after she joined the world of men in . This time she ll be caught up in the Cold War, but should less of a fish out of water. The movie will also somehow bring back the likes of Chris Pine s Steve Trevor, who seemingly died in the previous movie. It s unclear how that will work logistically, especially because in the first image of Steve in Wonder Woman he also hadn t aged.

The upcoming sequel will arrive almost exactly three years after the original Wonder Woman hit theaters, and become a pop culture phenomenon. The DCEU broke new ground by having a female superhero lead her own movie, and Patty Jenkins work as director was universally praised. DC fans and casual moviegoers alike are eager to see what she ll do with the sequel, and how Diana Prince will return to theaters following Justice League.

Like the original film, Wonder Woman will be a prequel to the main timeline of the DCEU. This allows Patty Jenkins to make narrative choices free from the potential ramifications for the greater shared universe. It also allows Diana Prince s long life to be expanded, peeling back the layers of her strong exterior, and Amazon history. We first met her as an experienced warrior in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the prequels reveal how she got there.

Wonder Woman will introduce a slew of mysterious characters, with fans able to get their first glimpse at the newcomers when that long-awaited trailer hits. This includes Kristen Wiig s Cheetah and Pedro Pascal s Maxwell Lord. What s more, the sequel will see the return of Connie Nielsen s Hippolyta and Robin Wright s Antiope.

Wonder Woman will finally arrive in theaters on June th, . In the meantime, check out our release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
